PETROSOLAUM
The brand started as PETROSOLAUM in 2012-13AW .
We aim to create products that combine, at a high level, both a tool to protect the feet and a piece of art.
We respect the animals we use as materials and create shoes that reflect new challenges and our own unique ideas based on traditional manufacturing methods that have been passed down in order to bring out the best in their properties and characteristics.
The brand name is a combination of the word Petroleum , which means oil, and the designer's name , Sotaro .
The fingerprint mark on the insole, which is based on the motif of oily fingertips, conveys the message of a commitment to handcrafted work and deep consideration of manufacturing.

PETROSOLAUM 's classic Gurkha, finished with soft oil kid leather.
Compared to typical Gurkha sandals, these sandals are less exposed and function as leather shoes to protect the feet, while still providing an impressive balance of moderate lightness to the exposed areas.
After being sewn onto a wooden last, the insole, the sewn lining leather, and the outsole are all sewn together using the McKay method, which gives the shoe great bounce, lightness, and quick fit to the foot.
The outsole features a leather sole with hidden channels that hide the stitching, giving it a luxurious and beautiful appearance and improving durability by protecting the stitching with leather.
It is made using the " 03 last ", a wooden last for PETROSOLAUM 's high-end line. It is a wooden last that expresses modern classicism, with antique lasts such as the military last from the archive as the image source, and a universal shape carved through the filter of PETROSOLAUM .
Material: Oil Soft Kip
This is a medium-sized cowhide leather made by a mixed tanning process in which raw hides from the Netherlands are chrome-tanned at a tannery in Himeji, Japan, and then a small amount of tannin is added again to make the core thicker. This material is characterized by its fine texture and transparency due to the semi-aniline finish.
