PETROSOLAUM
Launched in the 2012-13 AW season, PETROSOLAUM aims to create products that fuse the functionality of footwear as a protective tool with the aesthetic of an art piece at the highest level.
Out of respect for the animals whose materials we use, we craft our shoes by reflecting our own unique philosophy and new challenges, all while grounding our process in traditional methods passed down through generations to maximize the natural qualities and characteristics of the leather.
The brand name is a portmanteau of "Petroleum" and the designer’s name, Sotaro.
The fingerprint motif on the insole, inspired by oil-stained fingertips, carries a message of our deep commitment to manual craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
"Trekking"
A collaborative shoe between the Belgian fashion brand JAN-JAN VAN ESSCHE and PETROSOLAUM.
The upper features a luxurious combination of "pit oil stake cow," carefully tanned in pit vats, and "pit horse reverse," known for its unique texture. The depth created by these contrasting leathers and the patina that develops with wear are truly captivating.
While based on a trekking shoe, the design is elevated into a sophisticated, minimalist look that sets it apart from traditional outdoor contexts. It is an artistic pair infused with meticulous, handmade craftsmanship down to the finest detail.
