ISLAND SLIPPER
Island Slippers has been manufactured on the island of Oahu in Hawaii since 1946.
The history of the company dates back to when a Japanese immigrant to Hawaii, Motonaga Takizo, created the prototype for sandals, and his son, Edward Motonaga, established a factory and developed the company into a sandal company.
In 1986, the company was taken over by John Carpenter (current president) from Motonaga, and the Airado Slipper brand has grown into a global sandal manufacturer.
Since its founding, the company's philosophy of being a "resort sandal manufacturer that does everything from design to manufacturing in Hawaii" has remained unchanged to this day, and all of its products are "Made in Hawaii."
Island Slippers are made in their own factory in Pearl City using traditional Hawaiian printed fabrics and carefully selected leather materials from the U.S. mainland. The factory has almost no precision machinery, and each pair is handcrafted by skilled craftsmen, full of love from the craftsmen and the company presidents, John and Daisy, who watch over them.
Island Slippers are made with such love and warmth, and are quite different from simple beach sandals you would wear at the beach.
Just by putting on the Island Slippers, the usual asphalt road turns into a grassland, busy time changes to a slower pace, and you feel truly relaxed.
