YOKE focuses on materials and patterns, adding contemporary elements to standard items.
It proposes sophisticated items that can be worn by all genders.
The brand name YOKE has meanings such as "connect," "bond," and "the fabric that connects garments," which aligns with the brand's concept.
The process of creating a single garment involves many people:
raw materials → yarn → fabric → cutting → sewing → finishing.
Many individuals are involved before a product is completed.
A garment is created by these elements "connecting." YOKE thoroughly understands and connects these processes. The brand's philosophy is "things connect people, people connect people, and people connect things."
The designer is Norio Terada.
After graduating from the Bunka Fashion College's Design Department, he gained experience at domestic brands and select shops.
After gaining experience in design and production management, he went independent in 2016. He launched YOKE with the Autumn/Winter 2018 collection.
"Printed Plaid Cotton Twill Shirt"
Design
A plain regular collar shirt made from cotton silk twill fabric with an original check print. The material used is a lightweight and soft cotton silk twill. A distinctive feature is the absence of a yoke on the back panel; instead, the pleats flow up to the neckline. The three-dimensional curve of the back, usually created by a yoke, is compensated for with darts. The cuffs feature three pleats. The buttons are logo-embossed shell buttons.
Fabric
The fabric is a cotton twill, printed with an original watercolor check pattern, using 80/1 cotton for the warp and 60/1 cotton-silk blend yarn for the weft. Woven loosely in a twill weave, it has a sheer quality and a soft touch. The 10% silk blend enhances its delicate luster and suppleness.
