MITTAN (ミッタン)
MITTAN proposes modern ethnic clothing based on the history of clothing and textiles remaining in the world. Reinterpreting flat structures and combining them with the inherent functionality of natural materials, we aim to create long-lasting clothing that is not bound by fleeting trends.
－Production Background－
The fabrics primarily used are machine-woven from various regions across Japan such as Enshu, Banshu, and Bishu, as well as hand-woven materials from Asian countries like India and Laos. The designer personally visits the weaving mills whenever possible and is involved in the development of unique materials. In addition, cotton thread is mainly used for sewing, and natural materials are used for accessories such as woven labels, quality labels, and buttons, with all sewing done at affiliated factories in Japan. For dyeing, in addition to regular dyes, we use plants, indigo, insects, and minerals, and the uneven color changes are also considered part of their beauty.
